Blooming This
Week (3rd Week of June):
"Goatsbeard"
(Aruncus sp.)
Aruncus dioicus, Giant
Goatsbeard, bears large plume-like panicles of creamy white flowers
over serrated green foliage. At 48"-60" in height it is an
impressive back-of-the-border plant for the moist shaded garden.
Aruncus aethusifolius, Dwarf Goatsbeard, is an incomparable foliage
plant that sports small creamy spires borne atop a tightly
compressed 12" mound of lacy foliage that is absolutely gorgeous in
all seasons. It is a wonderful choice for the shaded rock garden or
for the front-of-the-border to add textural contrast. We also have a
third Goatsbeard, Aruncus' 'Kneiffii' (not pictured here) which is
also an amazing foliage plant with narrow almost needle-like leaflet
that adds dramatic foliar effect throughout the growing season.
