This year our floral designer,
Johanna Kleckner, was asked to interpret a 1955 abstract painting by
artist Hans Hartung. Johanna saw in the brown & black slashes on a
contrasting white background an image of the earth during its winter
rest. Her piece reflects this through her use of earth-toned natural
materials including stems, branches, feathers and stone. Her simple
design reflects the quietude of the season and the quince branches
just breaking into bud symbolizes the emergence of spring out of the
dark of winter. |
