Although we are primarily an herbaceous plant nursery we do carry
a handful of shrubs that we feel are particularly well suited for
use as companion plants in the perennial border. Hydrangeas fall
into this category. We carry a half dozen types of Hydrangea and are
fond of all of them (these include
'Tardiva',
'Limelight',
'Pink
Diamond', 'Little Lamb' and Annabelle. However, 'Pinky Winky'
stands apart from the others as an outstanding newer introduction.
It sports huge 12"-16" showy flower clusters in late summer &
fall on strong sturdy stems. The flowers start out white and change
to a rich deep rose-pink color as they age, creating a distinctive
bi-color floral effect. At maturity this shrub will stand
6'-8' in height and provide a spectacular autumn floral display.
Blooms on new wood so pruning, if necessary, should be done in early
spring before new growth begins.
