Art in Bloom 2009

The popular "Art in Bloom" event at the Milwaukee Art Museum is an opportunity for Florists to interpret pieces of art from the Museum's collection. This year Monches interpreted Pablo Picasso's "The Cock of the Liberation". The picture shows a rooster (the symbol of France) crowing at the beginning of a new day, symbolic of the 1944 liberation of France from the Nazis.

Our floral designer, Johanna Kleckner, echoed the oranges and greens from the painting in her selection of floral elements and mirrored the angular forms in her use of a series of pale green rectangular containers as a base for the arrangement.
