Blooming this week (1st week of July): Astrantia major
'Lars' Although not overly showy the Astrantias have a great deal of subtle beauty. The tiny central flowers are surrounded by bracts that range in color from chartreuse to deep red, depending on the variety. Flowers are held atop strong slender 24"-32" stems and persist for several weeks in late spring and early summer. They are exceptionally long lasting as a cut flower. The glossy foliage is mostly basal and is attractive throughout the growing season. Astrantia thrives in rich soil in partial shade. We have many color forms available, including ' Pink Pride' and 'Star of Beauty' . |
