Blooming Today (May 19, 2014)

Fernleaf Peony
(Paeonia tenuifolia)

Delicate fern-like emerald green foliage forms a tight 18"-24" mound in spring. The round ruby-red buds atop the lacy foliage are so beautiful that we actually love this plant most when it is in bud. Buds open to single true red flowers in mid-May, earlier that most peonies. After flowering the foliage remains until about mid-summer, when it disappears into dormancy.

This is a rare and much sought after plant for the collector's garden and we are proud to offer healthy, well established plants for those seeking something different & unique for the spring border.
